The Final Countdown to the 2010 Australian Open - 01-15-2010 05:32 AM

As you already have noticed the SEEDS and DRAWS for the 2010 Australian Open have been announced and published. HERE you can find the Men's and Women's SEEDS and here and here the DRAWS for Men and Women.

The Qualifying rounds of the 2010 Australian Open have started. Today (Friday the 15th) is the Final of the WTA Medibank International Event in Sydney and tomorrow is the Final of the Koyoong exhibition tournament. And it's all set for the beginning of maybe the most exciting Australian Open of the last decade.

The tennis year's 1st Grand Slam is getting ready to kick off in just a few days from now, with the Australian Open Round 1 starting from Jan 18. This is always an exciting slam, and it often ends up setting the tone for the rest of the year. Breakout players often establish themselves at this tournament, and it's never uncommon to see a surprise finalist.

Having said that, let's take a look at a few of the favorites entering the tournament:
First, there's Roger Federer, the world no 1. Always an obvious contender to win any slam, Federer hasn't missed the semifinals of a major event in years (22 consecutive semis). He made the finals last year and lost a 5 set thriller to Rafael Nadal. Don't be surprised to see him working hard to exact revenge in 2010.

There's also the defending champion, Rafael Nadal. While he ended the year ranked number two, this is largely in part to the fact that he missed a full month of action, including Wimbledon, due to injury. Can Nadal defend his title at the Open this year or will he fall short in his quest to repeat? Time will tell.

Novak Djokovic wants to repeat the 2008 triumph when he became AO champion and shut the mouths of those who call him One-Slam Wonderboy...

The only change in the Top 10 seeds is that Andy Murray has dropped to no 5 losing a place to Juan Martin Del Potro and wants to take back the 4th spot and claim his first ever Grand Slam title while Juan Martin Del Potro, one of the best hard court players in the world -some are calling him the best at this point.-, wants to prove he can handle the pressure being a US Open Grand Slam Champion in the age of 21...

Nikolay Davydenko,  being in the form of his life currently, after winning the 2009 World Tour Finals in London wins the Qatar Open 250 ATP Event in Doha beating in the Final a revitalised Rafa Nadal who has won a couple weeks ago the Abu Dhabi Exhibition Event. Can the Russian finally win a slam? We will wait n watch!!

Andy Roddick came back to action winning the tournament in Brisbane and Robin Soderling is on the rise counting wins against top players like Federer and Nadal.

Will it be someone out of the top 8? Don't forget the thrilling SemiFinal Fernando Verdasco played against Rafa Nadal and the top 10 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga who was runner-up in Melbourne in 2008 losing to Novak Djokovic in the final after beating Nadal in the Semis... Australian Open is well known for big surprises and shake-ups...

Yes, it will be one of the best of all times...

On the way to the Australian Open 2010 onboard with t3nnis.tv - 01-07-2010 11:28 PM

We are less than 2 weeks before the AO 2010 and things look so much promising...

In Doha, (ExxonMobil Qatar Open) the Federer-Nadal rivalry is reignited with the top 2 players in the world setting target for the final which will be something like an appetizer for the Australian Open clash. Many of us want to relive the classic battle between those 2 players in the AO final... T3nnis.tv will be offering most of the matches from the Qatar Open 250 ATP Event...

But what's going on with the other ATP big guns? Where is the 2009 Doha title holder, Andy Murray? It seems that this year he opted to take part in the Hopman Cup tournament to acclimatize better in the Australian summer and avoid clashing with the top 2 players unlike what he did last year. Djokovic and Del Potro seem to be taking a rest not competing in any tournaments before the Australian Open. It is obvious that all these 3 want to achieve their physical and mental peak during the Australian Open in a bid to stop Federer and Nadal for claiming another title... Will they make it? We will find out in less than a month. T3nnis.tv is following Andy Murray and the rest of the teams in the 2010 Hopman Cup in Perth, Australia.

And let's not forget about the WTA and Justine Henin that makes her comeback in Brisbane competing for the first time in an official tournament after her retirement. Henin is playing in the Brisbane International 250 WTA Event  of the Australian Series of events prior to the Australian Slam. T3nnis.tv will offer you all the Justine Henin matches from the Brisbane tournament, so stay tuned... Will she make it to the Brisbane semifinal where she would potentially meet Ana Ivanovic?

And just before the Australian Open t3nnis.tv will be following the quarters, semis and the final of the Medibank International WTA Event in Sydney...

So it's all set for the Australian Open 2010 which will be covered in both SD and HD...
